Messier M97 - Owl Nebula

M97 (NGC 3587), also known as the Owl Nebula, is a Planetary Nebula located in the constellation Ursa Major, is best viewed during Late Spring, and is magnitude 12. The naked eye can see magnitude 6 objects (magnitude 8 under ideal dark sky conditions). It is 3.4x3.3' in size. For reference, the full moon is 30' (arc minutes) in size, or 1/2°.
