Messier M8 - Lagoon Nebula

M8 (NGC 6523), also known as the Lagoon Nebula, is a Lagoon Nebula located in the constellation Sagittarius, is best viewed during Late Summer, and is magnitude 5. The naked eye can see magnitude 6 objects (magnitude 8 under ideal dark sky conditions). It is 35.0x50.0' in size. For reference, the full moon is 30' (arc minutes) in size, or 1/2°.
