Messier 74 (NGC 628), also known as the Phantom Galaxy, is a spiral galaxy located in the constellation Pisces in the M74 Group of galaxies. M74 is 30,000,000 light years away from Earth.

M74 is best viewed during early spring, is magnitude 10, and can be viewed with small telescope. M74 is 10.5' x 9.5' in apparent size. For reference, the full moon is 30' (arc minutes) in size.
